350.org evening of climate resistance stories

Friends,

For just over a week, I have had the immense privilege of hosting Climate Warriors from the Pacific Islands for their first ever visit to Canada. These last few days were exhausting, emotionally draining, and yet, simultaneously heart warming. Now, I want you to see what I saw.

Tonight, we will host an evening of climate resistance stories -- sign up now to join us. At this event, the Pacific Climate Warriors and Indigenous peoples from closer to home will take the stage. We also plan to premiere a first cut of the “Raise A Paddle” short documentary that summarizes the story of the entire journey.

I hope that you will consider making it out to hear from my friends fighting climate change from both sides of the Pacific. Here are the details one last time:

What:  Raise a Paddle: An evening of climate stories from across the Pacific

When: May 16th (today!) at 6:30 PM PST

Where: Russian Hall – 600 Campbell Avenue

Click here to buy your ticket – all funds go towards Indigenous legal cases against Kinder Morgan. (You can also buy your tickets at the door).

As you will see tonight, it’s been a very long week. We started off last week right in the heart of the tar sands – the very site that has unleashed so much destruction on their homes in the South Pacific. That's exactly what tonight's event is about. The Pacific Climate Warriors will speak alongside inspiring leaders like Cedar George Parker, a young person from the Tsleil Waututh First Nation and Melina Laboucan-Massimo, a member of the Lubicon Cree First Nation who has championed renewable energy development right from the heart of the tar sands. Tonight will showcase the beauty and strength of the resistance to tar sands that stretches across the Pacific.

Since Trudeau approved Kinder Morgan, the pipeline's prospects have only become shakier. And just last week, the results of the BC election thew the biggest curve ball yet -- with a majority of the province making its opposition clear. Now is the time to build a movement that will stop this pipeline -- and others like it -- once and for all.

I really hope you can be a part of this movement with us.

In respect and peace,

Clayton Thomas-Müller

P.S. If you or a friend can’t make it, we will also live stream the event on the Raise A Paddle website. Here’s how to join.
