“We are seeing more abnormal weather events. Colleagues across the House can argue about whether that is linked to climate change or not. I very much suspect that it is,” David Cameron told MPs last month. But with Britain battling a red weather warning, serious questions must be asked about the government’s willingness to face up to the climate change threat and its impacts on the UK. Climate scientists have been warning for years that climate change will make extreme weather events more common, but Cameron has surrounded himself with people who have completely undermined efforts to tackle global warming and prepare the nation for its consequences.
