SUPPORT NEEDED FOR LAWSUIT

challenging BC Liberal Government's approval of Kinder Morgan Expansion

PIPE UP and Democracy Watch launched a lawsuit on January 31 challenging the BC government's approval of Kinder Morgan, based on the conflict of interest inherent in the BC LIberal Party accepting more than $550,000 from Kinder Morgan and assorted shippers and then approving the project.

Kinder Morgan and oil companies who plan to ship bitumen through the proposed Trans Mountain Pipeline donated more than $550,000 to the B.C. Liberals in the past five years, putting Premier Clark and her Cabinet in a conflict of interest that prohibited them from making the pipeline approval decision

An expert panel is asking for public comment on the National Energy Board (NEB) structure, role and mandate.

Harper’s sweeping changes to the NEB Act in 2012 removed the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency review of fossil fuel projects. It needs to be restored.
