Good afternoon,

We wanted to let you know about a public town hall taking place this Saturday, September 7 that might be of interest to you and others in your field and community. The free event will discuss how overdose deaths, homelessness and mental illness has affected the DTES and communities large and small across the province, as well as possible solutions.

We want to know what you think needs to change. Join CBC Vancouver's Stephen Quinn, Mike Killeen and Anita Bathe for a constructive and impactful afternoon of dialogue at Despair, Addiction, Poverty: When is Enough Enough?

WHEN: Saturday, September 7 Noon to 1:30 p.m.

PANELISTS:

  • Karen Ward Drug User advocate, City of Vancouver drug policy and poverty reduction consultant, Downtown Eastside Resident

  • Robin Raweater Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre, Downtown Eastside Resident

  • Fred Mah President, Chinatown Society Heritage Building Association

  • Brandon Grossutti Owner/Operator at PiDGiN Restaurant

If you can't make the town hall in person, you can listen on CBC Radio One across British Columbia, and live stream the town hall on cbc.ca/bc, Facebook, or CBC Gem.

Feel free to share this with anyone else you think might be interested.

Best,

Phoenix Lam, from the CBC Vancouver Communications team
