CLIMATE CONVERGENCE MEETING

Firstly - THANK YOU to everyone who helped organize, promote and attend the Vancouver #RiseforClimate March & Rally on September 8!

We think Vancouver came out in force with 2000 people at a LOUD rally organized in two weeks. Around the world there were 900+ actions in 95 countries on all 7 continents. Check out the photos on: http://www.riseforclimate.org

The action took on a special significance given the Federal Appeals Court decision to "quash" the approval of the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project...and the government of Canada's predictably pitiful public pronunciations that they will find somehow a way to continue construction. It was important to come together to celebrate this victory, and to reaffirm to ourselves and the government that we will continue to do everything possible to make sure this pipeline is not built.

We are building our future, not a pipeline. We demand the government do the same.

Climate Convergence meetings are open to everyone committed to climate justice and building a better world. Our next one is:

Wednesday, September 19
7pm
SFU Harbour Centre
Hastings & Richards
Downtown Vancouver

We will be discussing the recent developments Trans Mountain Pipeline development and what to organize next.

Also, the Squamish Nation is organizing a Victory March on Saturday at 4:30pm. The march will start at Waterfront Park (next to Seabus) and end at the Capilano Field on the Squamish Nation Reserve with a special concert party! The Facebook event is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2223035814581943/

We hope you can all attend, and that we can continue working together for people and planet over pipelines and profits!
