Court support for water protectors facing jail time

The partnership between the Canadian government and Kinder Morgan is now in the courts. Will you join us on July 31st to show your support for defendants who are now risking jail time for standing up to Kinder Morgan?

RSVP COURT SUPPORT

Judge Kenneth Affleck (a former big tobacco lawyer who was appointed as judge under Stephen Harper) granted the 5 metre injunction zone around Kinder Morgan facilities in March. He is now the same judge trying defendants in court.

When we pack the courts, the government notices. Let's show them how many of us are witnessing their charade.

After the federal government bailed out a failing Texan oil company's doomed pipeline and tanker project in May, the Crown jacked up their minimum sentencing recommendation to seven days in jail for anyone crossing injunction zones at Kinder Morgan facilities.

Stand with defendants in court and show Kinder Morgan and the Trudeau government that we demand transparency and fairness through every step of the legal process.

The nine defendants coming to court on Tuesday are risking jail time for their bold actions: defending our coast, standing up for Indigenous rights and leading the fight against climate change. Help cover their court costs by donating to the legal fund.
