Defender Dance: Party for Unist’ot'en

January 19th
  • Saturday from 19:00-02:00
  • 520 Alexander St, Vancouver, BC V6A 1C7, Canada
Protectors, not protestors.
On Unceded Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish Territories we're gonna bring it.
Join us for a night of your favourite beats, people, drinks, and more. All funds raised go to Unist'ot'en Camp and will be donated the day following through paypal.

Unist'ot'en is a healing Centre on unceded Wet'suwet'en territory. Their matriarch and supporters are currently fighting for their lands and sovereignty in colonial courts. After a brutal RCMP raid last week the world is watching. Unist'ot'en needs our help to beat the pipeline that is threatening the last untouched places in their territory. Let's back them up.

The benefit concert will feature:
DJ Kookum, Nimkish, Virago Nation, Quanah Style, Murray Porter, Candace Curr, and other guests we swore not to tell you about, but like, you know who they are and it's exciting.

Cash Only
Door: Pay what you can - or donate ahead on eventbrite.

Beers and Drinks $5
Pop $2
Bannock $5 or pay what you can
Coat Check by donation
Bike Valet by donation

Basement will be a place to retreat starting at 7, a sober space, with comfy couches for folks (prioritizing elders and folks with body needs), table tennis, and colouring.

Upstairs will be a dance party from 8-late.
We will start the night out with the Nahanee family doing a welcome.

This event will be put on jointly by All my Relations Entertainment and Populous Map. Organizers are Joleen, Laura, and Candace.
Should you have any questions give a call to Laura at 7783855262.

Accessibility:
A few things to know about the space at 520 Alexander St.
-There are 21 stairs from the bottom floor to the top floor and no elevator. If you want to go between the top floor and the bottom floor but not do stairs, going around the block to the back alley is the only option. Sorry for this.
There is a ramp to the basement sober and elder space through the garage at the front door. It has a slight decline and doesn't have too much of an angle.

If you aren't doing stairs, the access to the upstairs dance party is unfortunately through the back alley. It is a steep ramp and we will have someone stationed at the top of it to greet you and offer any physical assistance you need to get into the party.

Washrooms are degendered.
The venue is Family Friendly though drinks will be served upstairs.
