Extinction Rebellion BC: Next Steps for Direct Actions

https://www.facebook.com/events/272931440040038/?active_tab=about

January 29, 2019 at 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Grandview Calvary Baptist Church

1803 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver

There are so many reasons at this point in history where we need to connect with one another to make strategic plans for direct actions as we stand with the Wet'SuWet'En people and Unist'ot'en Camp! We act in solidarity with our indigenous brothers and sisters that are being violently removed from their territorial homelands.

We would like to invite everyone to come to an evening of sharing food together and gearing up towards upcoming XR dates of action. This will be an opportunity to meet others looking to form affinity groups, bring your ideas and learn from others, including a legal update.

We plan on holding to account the governments hell bent on forcing a bitumen pipeline (KM Trans Mountain) and a LNG pipeline (Pacific Trails) through our lands and waters. We say NO!!
The government must be held accountable for not telling the truth about the real situation our species is facing: extinction.

Please bring food/snacks to share if you can. We will have coffee, tea and beverages.

Grandview Calvary Baptist Church, Lower Hall.

Agenda:
6.30 pm door open, share food and get to know each other.
7:00 pm Territory Acknowledgement
7:10 pm Dates/Actions Discussion
7.20 pm Working groups updates
7:30 pm Breakout groups/Affinity Groups
8:30 pm Legal Q & A
9:00 pm Next Steps and feel free to head out to a nearby establishment with your new affinity group buddies!

Stay tuned for a follow up Direct Action Training session! Date in February TBD!

We work and live with gratitude on the traditional, unceded, occupied territories of the Coast Sallish peoples: the səlil̓wətaʔɬ Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
