NO KINDER MORGAN PIPELINE! STOP SITE C DAM! CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW!

Monthly IntersACTION

SATURDAY, JULY 15
2pm
In front of the TD BANK (4630 Kingsway)
Intersection of Kingsway and McKay - Next to Metrotown Mall
BURNABY

After sixteen long years of pro-corporate, anti-community, anti-environement rule, Christy Clark was finally forced to step down as Premier of British Columbia. Good riddance! Clark was a major supporter of the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion and the Site C Dam, and used her position to try and push them through despite widespread opposition. While her departure makes the completion of these projects more complicated - Kinder Morgan, Prime Minister Trudeau and BC Hydro have all reaffirmed their commitement to forcing them through.

While climate jutice activists should be encouraged that Clark's terrible environmental legacy was a major reason for growing unpopularity, now is more important than ever to stand up for the people and the planet! We need to send a strong message that we will continue to be active in building a movement to deafeat these projects, protect our communities and build the better world we all know is possible.

Please join us to continue this important work! Bring your friends, family, signs, voices and your determination.

>>> What is an IntersAction?
It's an action where we flood an intersection on all sides with people crossing (on the light) with signs and banners without stopping the flow of traffic. This way we can be seen by and engage with the most people.

MORE INFO ON THE KINDER MORGAN PIPELINE:
The 6.8 billion dollar pipeline would “twin” an already existing pipeline to move heavy tar sands oil from Edmonton to Burnaby for export. This would triple the amount of oil being moved on the route to 890,000 barrels a day, while crossing approximately 900 watercourses between Edmonton and Burnaby. The pipeline would increase oil tanker traffic in the Burrard Inlet from 60 to more than 400 a year. It is opposed by the vast majority of indigenous nations whose traditional territories it would cross and millions more accross BC and Canada.

MORE INFO ON THE SITE C DAM:
Site C violates First Nations Treaty Rights, will flood more than 9550 hectares of land, including enough farmland to feed 1 million people, puts the beautiful Peace Valley at risk, requires evicting farmers and landowners who have lived in the area for generations, will cost British Columbians at least $8.8 billion, will lead to our Hydro rates going up, and isn't needed!
