Paddle for the Peace

July 8 at 1 PM - 3 PM

Vanier Park

1100 Chestnut St., Vancouver

Indigenous groups, environmentalists, human rights organizations, farmers, economists, and politicians have all spoken out against the Site C dam. Now, it’s your turn to stand in solidarity with the Prophet River and West Moberly First Nations!

On July 8th, a flotilla of boats will float down the Peace River in Northern BC to draw attention to the beautiful valley and everything that will be lost to Site C. The 12th Annual Paddle for the Peace comes at a crucial time, as major decisions on Site C are set to be made in the next few weeks!

For those who are unable to make it up to Fort St. John, we’re reaching out today to invite you to join us in Vancouver on unceded Coast Salish Territory for a solidarity protest event organized by Force of Nature, FightC, Climate Convergence, and Wilderness Committee. This fun, family-friendly carnival-themed afternoon of entertainment will feature an incredible poet and activist from Prophet River First Nation, Helen Knott, as the main speaker; a series of exciting and enchanting performers throughout the afternoon; and opportunities to send a strong message to our politicians that opposition to Site C continues to grow here in the Lower Mainland.

What: A Stop Site C protest with speakers, carnival performers, and activity booths

When: Saturday, July 8th, 1-3 pm

Where: Vanier Park, near the Maritime Museum

There will also be an opportunity to participate in a symbolic paddle from Granville Island to Vanier Park, starting at 12 pm. We ask that everyone who intends to paddle sign up here to receive up-to-date details about the launch site, meeting point, and paddle duration.

Please take a moment to share the Facebook event for Paddle for the Peace: Vancouver Carnival and invite your friends, as we gear up for the biggest Stop Site C protest ever!
