Support Our Arrestees! - Extinction Rebellion Vancouver

Public · Hosted by Extinction Rebellion Vancouver

November 19, at 1:15
222 Main St., Vancouver

On Monday October 7th, we assembled and took over Burrard Bridge for 13 hours. At the end of the night, 10 brave rebels sat in the road and refused to move.

They were accompanied by song and ceremony and were eventually arrested by Vancouver police. We know that our rebels are not criminals. We know that the Canadian government are. Come out and support out rebels on November 19th, 1:15pm, outside the Provincial Courthouse. There should not be any legal consequences for those trying to stop the destruction of our planet & extinction of billions of species, including humans.

The Governments inaction on the climate and ecological emergency is already killing thousands in the Global South. It will soon be hitting us here in Canada. We will face droughts, floods, famine & a climate refugee crisis.

Extinction Rebellion Vancouver will continue to escalate, be arrested and cause disruption until the government meet our 3 demands:

1. Tell The Truth: Government must tell the truth by declaring a climate and ecological emergency, working with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change.
2. Act Now: Government must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.
3. Beyond Politics: Government must create and be led by the decisions of a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.
