Tell David Eby: Honour Treaties, Protect Peace Valley, No Site C

Please join us at David Eby's office, 2909 West Broadway, on Friday, Oct 5, 12 to 2 pm, to remind BC's Attorney General to uphold treaty responsibilities and protect the Peace River Valley.

The West Moberly and Prophet River First Nations went to court this summer seeking an injunction to stop the Site C dam from destroying their sacred places. So we gather to remind David Eby to honour Treaty 8, respect Indigenous law and enforce the Crown's duty to protect the Peace Valley from settler colonial violence and treaty violations.

How does BC walk its talk of reconciliation? The Peace River has also suffered previous dams (WAC Bennett dam and Peace Canyon dam) that devastated the land, life & people. BC Hydro apologized for this violence, but has not changed its actions, so its apology is meaningless. No one can afford to lose the last intact section of the Peace River, the sacred Peace Valley.

There are strong economic, environmental & ethical reasons to stop this destructive, over-priced mega dam NOW. It's not too late to stop the dam; better alternatives exist like community-based wind & solar. For more info see https://witnessforthepeace.ca/the-latest/

FightC is a non-partisan, non-violent grassroots community group committed to stopping the Site C dam in solidarity with the Treaty 8 First Nations. All who love and respect the Peace are welcome to join us.

We gratefully acknowledge that this free assembly takes place on the Unceded Territory of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish Nations
