Webinar on the new B.C. bill on Indigenous Rights

Last week, Premier John Horgan tabled comprehensive legislation that will start to bring B.C.’s laws in line with the U.N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The bill has been years in the making, co-written with the First Nations Leadership Council in consultation with Indigenous groups across the province.

The legislation will have far-reaching effects. One of its many goals is to create more economic self-determination for Indigenous communities in B.C., while eliminating costly court battles and conflict on the land-base over rights and resources.

Please join Dogwood’s communications director, Kai Nagata, and special guest Khelsilem, councillor and spokesperson for the Squamish Nation, in a discussion about the evolution of this bill and what it means for Indigenous peoples and non-Indigenous communities in B.C.
