Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis believe climate change can only be addressed by upending the capitalist system. That's the argument at the heart of their provocative new documentary "This Changes Everything," which follow the stories of communities around the world responding to the impact of climate change and capitalism through activism. The film had its world premier at the Toronto International Film Festival this week, and it opens theatrically across Canada on October 6.
The film is just one part of a larger mission to bring these issues into the public consciousness. This week, Klein announced the release of "The Leap Manifesto." Signed by over 100 activists, it calls on the next federal government to address Canada's policies on climate change. Its ambitious demands include a call for Canada to wean itself entirely off fossil fuels by 2050.
With the federal election just over 4 weeks away, Brent sits down with Klein and Lewis to discuss what is truly realistic for Canada when it comes to moving towards a clean economy.
