BROKE Town Hall in July and canvassing in June

BROKE is presenting a Town Hall on Tuesday July 5, 5-7pm (and online), at Lochdale Community Hall in North Burnaby, and we need your help with advance canvassing to
  • reach new people and
  • uplift youth voices.
We will raise awareness about
Don't Give Up! Town Hall about Together Stopping Trans Mountain!
Featured speakers include Cedar George Parker and other youth speakers, also Rueben George of Tsleil-Waututh Sacred Trust, & other speakers TBA (poster coming soon).

WHY?
There is a youth movement rising this summer against Trans Mountain. The youth want to protect orcas, salmon, birds, and the inlet from the threats this pipeline & tanker expansion brings. Their vision has the power to unite people & bring harmony back to the land. This is their vision and their future. They need our support now to keep up their work.

We are asking people to sign up for canvassing shifts because we have noticed that "our choir" is exhausted and we need to reach new people. We are asking allies and accomplices at this time - rather than coming to hear people speak as a way of supporting - we would like for you to help us find new people who will be learning about the issues for the first time. We believe a lot has changed since this fight began, and that more people care about Climate and are putting the pieces together about the future we need that is free of new pipelines and fossil infrastructure.

We hope you choose to lean into this opportunity if you can... we need us all together to bring the changes that must come.

Other groups supporting our Town Hall include Mountain Protectors, Climate Convergence, Force of Nature, For our Kids Burnaby, Protect the Planet, & TSSU (SFU Teaching Support Staff Union).

We respectfully acknowledge the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations, on which this event will take place.
