Join Strikers at Burnaby City Hall!

Dear Allies,

The Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel is now in its 7th month on strike. On Monday, February 12th, strikers will be asking Burnaby City Council to support the strike by passing a resolution that states the City of Burnaby will not do any business with the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, Marriott Vancouver Airport Hotel, Hilton Vancouver Airport Hotel, and Bridge Studios until a fair contract has been reached.

This is incredibly important because the hotel's parent company, Larco, owns a series of movie studios under the banner Bridge Studios in Burnaby. Bridge Studios is a job creator in Burnaby with a growing footprint in the city. Unions representing workers who work on productions at Bridge Studios (IATSE, Teamsters, and UBCP/ACTRA) have sent us letters of solidarity. In these letters, they expressed their concerns about this labour dispute including Larco’s refusal to pay staff a living wage, their repeated attempts at utilizing unlawful replacement workers, and the targeted firings of long-term housekeepers.

Our strike is about earning enough to live. We want the Council to stand with those of us fighting for a living wage.
