Mega-rally for endangered old-growth

Time to take to the streets for old-growth!

We’re calling for old-growth protection in a big way

The BC government has promised to protect old-growth forests, and it’s a commitment they are failing to honour. Today, we’ve joined more than 160 other organizations in calling on the province to keep its promise, and announce a massive march and rally on Feb.25 to encourage them to do so.

Endorsed by the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, the BCGEU and dozens of other civil society organizations, faith groups, Indigenous and environmental organizations, the United We Stand for Old Growth Declaration issues a clear call to the BC NDP government and announces a mass mobilization on Premier David Eby’s 100th day in office.

The BC NDP has made clear promises on old-growth but has yet to show the willingness to keep them – it’s time to demonstrate how strong the support is for the protection of these irreplaceable forests.

This is moment requires all of us, and there concrete ways you can help out:

Massive mobilization of people power has always been the force for change on environmental issues, and we need to make it so again. Join with people from all walks of life to send a clear, simple message that it’s time to end decades of talk-and-log policies and safeguard old-growth forests once and for all.

For months now, we’ve been busy organizing what will be a turning point in the decades-long fight to protect old-growth forests. Next week, it’s time to rally.

Along with our partners and a huge team of volunteers, we’ve helped pull together the United For Old Growth march and rally happening next Saturday, February 25 on unceded lək̓ʷəŋən territories (Victoria, BC).

March: Centennial Square, Noon
Rally: BC Legislature, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Our demand to the BC NDP government is simple: keep your promise and protect threatened old-growth forests!

On February 25, all out for old-growth forests!
