This workshop has two parts. We ask that you attend both. The sessions will be on Thursday, October 26th and November 2nd, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern (4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific).
Labor Notes believes in building rank and file member-led unions that take militant action in order to build power to take on the boss. If you are a member of a union or doing workplace organizing and the boss is using race/racism as a way to thwart your organizing efforts than this workshop is for you!
How does racism show up in our workplaces and our unions? What are some strategies to confront it and build solidarity for a stronger, multiracial labor movement? And what can you say to union siblings who aren’t convinced racial justice has anything to do with union politics?
This online workshop addresses how class and race are inextricably linked, tracing back the origins of “race” as an invention of the ruling class to divide workers. We'll talk about how to move to strategies of unity.
