Emergency Activist Call: Protect Our Right to Strike - Today
|
|
Hello, Bill C-39 is an attack on our right to strike.
The proposed changes to Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code would give the federal government new powers to step in and shut down legal strikes. That would weaken one of the most important tools workers have to negotiate fair wages, safer workplaces, and better working conditions. If employers believe the government may intervene once a strike becomes effective, they have less reason to bargain seriously at the table.
We need to organize. We need to put pressure on MPs. And we need activists across B.C. ready to take action.
Please join us for an emergency activist call on Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. PT. We’ll talk about the proposed changes to Section 107, what they could mean for workers and collective bargaining, Labour’s response, and what activists can do right now to help protect the right to strike.
Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. PT
Online: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/Rq_ZiTDCTBWfPEot6QbD_Q The CLC is calling on affiliates, labour councils, and activists to organize meetings with MPs, build pressure in their communities, and make sure MPs hear directly from workers about what is at stake.
Our right to strike was fought for. We need to protect it.
Please join us and share this invitation with other labour activists.
Can’t make the meeting but still want to take action? You can:
This is an all-hands-on-deck moment. The government is moving quickly, and Labour needs to move just as quickly. We need activists talking to MPs, organizing their coworkers, and helping build pressure across the country.
Join us on October 8. If you can’t make the meeting, take action anyway, and bring others with you.
Our right to strike was fought for by generations of workers. We cannot allow it to be weakened without a fight. Now is the time to organize, speak up, and make sure MPs hear directly from workers.
In Solidarity,
Orion
