Join Old-growth Vancity and Climate Convergence as we hold space and raise our voices for biodiversity at an action coinciding with the United Nations COP 15 biodiversity conference currently taking place in Montreal.
DID YOU KNOW? B.C. has the most biodiversity, meaning the highest variety of plants, animals and fungi, in all of Canada, but the laws to protect it are practically toothless and projects like the Coastal GasLink (CGL) and Trans Mountain pipeline expansion (TMX) are destroying vital ecosystems daily.
As Sarah Cox wrote in a recent article for the Narwhal, "Unlike six other provinces and the United States, which shares transboundary and migratory species with B.C. — including caribou, songbirds and spotted owls — British Columbia has no stand-alone endangered species law. Instead, it relies on an uncoordinated mish mash of legislation to conserve plants and animals, including the Forests and Range Practices Act, the Oil and Gas Activities Act, and the Environment and Land Use Act."
We must unite to protect B.C.’s biodiversity and demand that new BC Premier David Eby:
Respect Indigenous knowledge and self-determination!
Protect BC’s Biodiversity!
Put People & Planet Before Pipelines!
Save Old-Growth Forests!
