On March 21, the Nuchatlaht Nation will be in the Supreme Court for the start of its historic land title case. This is a groundbreaking legal effort by the Nuchatlaht to get their ancestral land back — let’s support them!
Join us at 8:30 AM at the Nelson Street entrance of the BC Supreme Court to rally in support of Nuchatlaht Nation!
Nuchatlaht hahoulthee (territory) includes a large part of Nootka Island off the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island. These lands and waters have been impacted by industrial logging and fishing for almost a century at the hands of the BC government and corporate giants.
Despite passing legislation to uphold the rights of Indigenous Peoples and promising to do better, the BC NDP government has continued to throw up obstacles and fight against the Nuchatlaht.
Public support is key to winning this precedent-setting case. Come and show support for this tiny nation in their fight for sovereignty!
This event will be outdoors, with participants encouraged to wear masks.
