PEACE NOT BOMBS!

 

 

The Vancouver Peace Council anti-NATO banner action will take place next Saturday, June 25. Gather 12 noon at Seaforth Peace Park, south end of Burrard Bridge, for a walk over the bridge and back with a banner, placards and flyers. This action is one of many around the world this month to speak out against the upcoming annual NATO meeting, taking place June 29-30 in Madrid, Spain. In this country, the Liberal government is moving to drastically increase Canada's military budget, up to 2% of GDP as demanded by the US for all NATO alliance members. That would raise Canada's estimated military spending from about $36 billion per year, up to $60 billion or more - at a time when we desperately need to invest in renewable energy, mass transit, health care, and low-income housing.
