"what kind of filmmaker is it who comes back with news that something beautiful and forward-looking is flowering precisely in the midst of all the war and conflict?” (Tehelka)
Red Ant Dream is a feature documentary on the revolutionary movement in India. It focuses on the Maoists in Bastar in Chattisgarh, tribals fighting mining corporations in Nyamgiri in Odisha, and peasants in Pumjab inspired by the revolutionary Bhagat Singh. It opens with Bhagat Singh's declaration that "the state of war does exist and shall exist," and shows the relevance of that understanding today. The film has been described as a "love song to people across the country fighting to save our soul" by one reviewer.
Sanjay Kak, who has won many awards for his documentaries on building a bamboo bridge in North East India, the protests against mega dams on the Narmada, and the situation in Kashmir, will present the film and do a Q & A after the screening.
Admission is free.
