Secwepecm Sovereignty Fundraiser

For holding ceremony outside the TransMountain pipeline gates two years ago, Secwepemc people and their allies have been convicted of criminal contempt of court. The trial has been dragged on for a really long time due to all kinds of injustice and crisis.

Eight land defenders will be sentenced Feb 21, 2022 and are very likely to all receive jail time (exact amount of time TBA).

As we face more floods, fires & heat waves, the land is speaking loud and clear: we cannot afford the TransMountain pipeline expansion if we want a livable planet. At $21.4 billion and counting, this is a disastrous waste of public funds. Canada should have walked away when Kinder Morgan did in 2018. It still needs to walk away.

Wisely responding to the climate crisis, Quebec recently banned oil & gas development. BC needs this too.

We are grateful to be together on the unceded lands of the Coast Salish peoples, including the traditional & ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh.
