Tell Minister Guilbeault: protect seals + sea lions from Woodfibre LNG

My Sea To Sky are organizing an action TOMORROW, Thursday February 9.

For years, MSTS has been fighting construction on a gas terminal called Woodfibre LNG. The project is an expansion of the fracked gas industry in B.C. and a threat to Howe Sound.

This Thursday, Minister Guilbeault will be at IMPAC5, a global forum to protect the ocean. MSTS is inviting people to show up outside the forum to tell the minister that Woodfibre is a threat to the climate and local sea life.

Guilbeault is about to decide whether to approve Woodfibre LNG’s request to weaken environmental regulations. If he says no, it could stop the project in its tracks.

Can you join in before work on Thursday for a fun photo action?

The plan is to meet at 8:30 a.m. outside the Vancouver Convention Centre at 1055 Canada Place. From 9 a.m. to 10 you’d take part in a photo/video action telling Minister Guilbeault not to allow Woodfibre LNG to threaten marine life in the area. Then from 10 a.m. to 10:30 folks will march around the building while Guilbeault makes an announcement about Marine Protected Areas inside.

If you can join in, please RSVP so the organizers can better plan the event and also keep you updated on the exact location for meeting up and other important details as they emerge.
