Webinar: Fighting the Climate Crisis in a pandemic

COVID-19 has revealed just how ill-prepared governments and social support systems around the world are to handle a global crisis.

While governments struggle to respond to the pandemic, another crisis continues to loom large: the climate crisis. With time running out, we can’t afford to wait for governments to come to their senses — we need to keep fighting and we need to keep winning.

The good news is we’ve had some incredible victories on climate this past year and even more lined up for 2021.

Join us this Thursday, December 10th, at 3pm ET / 12pm PT for a webinar about how the fight against the climate crisis has changed during the pandemic — and what we can do to make 2021 a turning point. Click here to reserve your spot now.

During the webinar we'll discuss how we’re stopping some of the world's worst oil and gas megaprojects, pushed the Japanese government to stop funding coal, and how one obscure international agency could be the key to unlocking bold climate action.

Speakers include:

  • Bronwen Tucker, Fossil Fuel Analyst — Bronwen’s work focuses on shifting public finance and subsidies towards a fair and 100% renewable future as part of the organization’s Stop Funding Fossils program.
  • Susanne Wong, Senior Campaigner — Susanne’s work supporting an international and Japanese-led coalition helped to end the Japanese government’s financing of coal.
  • David Tong, Senior Campaigner — David Tong’s work focuses on building public support for a managed decline to wind down fossil fuel production, with a just and equitable transition. He works as part of the Energy Transitions and Futures program.
  • David Turnbull, Strategic Communications Director (Moderator) — David’s work is geared towards developing strategies to bring Oil Change International’s research to the public, the media, and key decision-makers.

It’s hard to overstate the impact that 2020 has had on campaigning around the world. Everyone’s routines have been upended and daily life looks radically different. That’s why it’s more important than ever to push for change — as new systems and policies get put in place, we need to ensure they are being built to address the ongoing climate crisis.
