XR Vancouver ACTION!

Join Extinction Rebellion Vancouver on Monday, September 21st at 4pm for a train blockade to demand that Justin Trudeau Stop TMX! Location will be announced at 12pm on Monday on Facebook.

The TransMountain expansion will exponentially increase oil production in the Alberta tar sands, contributing to a worsening climate and ecological crisis on a global scale. It will also increase the frequency of oil spills on Indigenous lands, and put extreme pressure on the endangered Southern resident orcas. The government needs to tell the truth about the consequences of the expansion and cancel the project. When the state breaks the social contract, people have the right to rebel!

Civil disobedience, especially railway blockades, result in enormous economic damage to the state, which has failed to listen to the people in any other way. Rail blockades are also safe during Covid-19 as they don’t require large numbers of people close together.

This event takes place on the unceded ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples
