Since 2011, the Great Housing Mission of Venezuela has been providing decent homes to low-income families at a low cost or free of charge.

On Thursday, President Nicolas Maduro delivered to Venezuelans house number 4,600,000 built through the Great Housing Mission of Venezuela (GMVV), a social housing program that the Bolivarian revolution has promoted for 12 years.

“On July 20, 2023, we mark a historic milestone: 4,600,000 homes. We have made it possible, the people and the government together!," he said during an act held in the Falcon state.

“Venezuela, we are going forward. We are heading towards 5 million homes and much more. Of course we can achieve it with the Great Housing Mission!,” he added.

The Venezuelan president highlighted that the social housing program continues to be implemented unstoppably despite the problems caused by the U.S. blockade and sanctions against the Bolivarian people, who have the inalienable right to decent housing.

Maduro also urged citizens to organize and create community councils to keep public services, schools, health centers, soup kitchens, and sports fields in good condition.

To date, the GMVV program has built 1,255 residential complexes on a total of 9,837 hectares, an area equivalent to six times the Swiss city of Geneva.

"The Great Housing Mission of Venezuela, launched by Commander Hugo Chavez in 2011, provides decent homes to low-income families at a low cost or free of charge, depending on their income," recalled the People Dispatch.
