BROKE:Teach in linking forest fire threat to SFU, climate change and the pipeline

BURNABY RESIDENTS
OPPOSING KINDER MORGAN EXPANSION

SFU is holding an emergency drill on the Burnaby Mountain campus on June 27 using a forest fire scenario. It is a ¾ day drill involving the SFU president and other high level administrators along with the usual emergency management team. The University has previously disclosed it’s concerns regarding the Kinder Morgan tank farm expansion plans and the inability to adequately protect the population from health risks due to fire in their Intervenor report, but they are not ‘connecting the dots’ as part of this drill.

Therefore, the following day June 28 (10am-3pm) we will have a teach in to link the forest fire threat to the university to climate change and the pipeline. The teach-in is designed for indigenous and non-indigenous community members, students and faculty.
