Terry Beech: Do the Right Thing!
No Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion - Not Now, Not Ever!

Stand up for the People and Planet NOT Pipelines & Profit

WEDNESDAY October 10
3pm - 6pm
Terry Beach Constituency Office
3906 Hastings Street (between Boundary and Gilmore)
Burnaby, BC

For almost a decade the movement to stop the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion has highlighted the many reasons we are opposed to this project. The two most fundamental being:

1. It does not have the "Free, Prior and Informed Consent" of the Indigenous Nations whose traditional territories it would cross. This standard is outlined in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

2. The planet cannot afford the negative impact of expansion of Tar Sands production that would be created by the pipeline. Already Environment Commissioner Julie Gelfand said, "Canada is not expected to meet its 2020 [United Nations Climate] target."

The Liberal Party was elected to a majority government on a stated commitment to Indigenous Rights and Climate Leadership. By doing everything possible to get this disaster project built, they have shown time and time again they are committed to neither.

Now they have wasted 4.5 billion in taxpayer dollars on a pipeline bailout and had their approval of the project quashed by their own courts for refusing to meaningfully consult with Indigenous Nations and create a National Energy Board process that would consider the marine impacts of increased tanker traffic.

Enough is enough! We demand the Liberal government completely cancel the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion, and focus on building the sustainable economy and future we know is possible. Now is not the time for sitting on the fence, and we demand Liberal MP Terry Beech stand up for people and the planet and make his membership in the Liberal Party conditional on their cancellation of the project.

Build Our Future, Not a Pipeline!
