National Day of Solidarity with the Posties

Come out this Saturday, Dec. 1,  for a national day of solidarity with the Posties! In Vancouver the rally is at noon at 1245 W. Broadway, the office of MP Jody Wilson-Raybould, Canada's Attorney-General and Minister of (so-called) Justice.

Just heard Community Picketing started this morning (Nov. 28) at Pacific Processing Centre near Vancouver International Airport. For more info contact – Emilie Tobin, CUPW Communications, at 613-882-2742 or at media@cupw-sttp.org

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers have once again had an important strike broken by federal legislation. Last time in 2011, it was by the Harper Conservatives (and Canada's Supreme Court declared that unconstitutional). This time it's by the Trudeau Liberals. Another graphic demonstration of the close similarities between the white cats and the black cats (according to Tommy Douglas in his famous speech about Mousland).

We put the call out for people to organize actions on yesterday morning. Today, over 70 volunteers are organizing events in 14 cities and communities from coast to coast.

The Liberals have attacked the right to strike, the Charter of Rights and freedoms, and our ability to fight for the future we need.

It's incredibly encouraging to see that so many people are ready to fight back.

Here are the cities where people are standing together to send the Liberals a message: VictoriaVancouverPrince GeorgeCalgaryEdmonton, ReginaThe PasWinnipeg, TimminsMississaugaOttawa. Details are coming soon for London, Montreal, and Halifax.

Visit this page for the full, up-to-date list of actions.

We need your help to make these actions the massive show of support that they can be.

Here's what you can do right now:

• Invite everyone you know to the events linked above and share the full list of actions

• Organize an event in your city or community – get in touch through our volunteer form.

Thanks for all your contributions!

in solidarity,

Dru, for everyone at Friends of Public Services
