Pancakes Not Pipelines: Rise and Resist Kinder Morgan!
Join us at 6am this January 29 in Burnaby for a “Pancakes not Pipelines” breakfast blockade at the gates of the Westridge Kinder Morgan terminal. This event is open to all seeking to take part in peaceful frontline action to resist Kinder Morgan's lethal tar sands pipeline and tanker assault on Indigenous territories, the Salish Sea and world's climate and to halt the current marine terminal construction on unceded osəli wəta (Tsleil-Waututh), Swú7mesh (Squamish), and xməθk ə əm (Musqueam) territories, where there is NO CONSENT! (See important info on bus travel and training for Victoria residents below.)
While some Coast Protectors are prepared to risk arrest in recognition of the serious violation of Indigenous rights and to protect the Salish Sea and its inhabitants and act for an urgent shift away from dangerous fossil fuel and tar sands expansion, the space is being held for all to exercise our rights to protest and resist the colossal social and ecological injustice of this project.
Please bring banners, chants, drums, songs, your own plates and cutlery and layers of warm, dry clothes. The Community Action Bus will be available for those who need to get warm and dry.
GETTING THERE FROM VICTORIA
We need at least 50 passengers each paying $50 (includes $21 a seat plus $ 29 for ferry fares (both ways), to cover the costs of taking the Community Action Bus (CAB) from the island over to this pancake-not-pipelines breakfast blockade at Kinder Morgan's marine terminal.
The bus will be departing Mile 0, Victoria B.C ( Lekwungen territory) at 3 pm January 28th for the 5 pm ferry. We can rendez-vous with Gulf island peeps at the ferry. We will return to the island on the 5 pm ferry, Monday, January 29th. We wil be lodging at the Grandview Baptist Church on the night of the 28th.
If we can reach this goal of 50 at $50, there will be extra seats available for those who can't afford it.

The 1000 km Kinder Morgan Transmountain Project, representing a tripling of the flow of dirty Alberta bitumen for export to
China, presents grave threats to this coast, watersheds, salmon habitats, climate and the sacred life of the Salish Sea, while running roughshod over the rights and sovereignties of Indigenous communities.
For years, concerned citizens and First nations have petitioned settler governments, marched, stood on Burnaby Mountain, and raised funds for costly court battles. We have gone to NEB hearings, walked, swam, paddled, chanted, heard speakers after
speaker, at rally after rally, bank action after bank action.
Together with 59 First Nations, 22 municipalities and hundreds of thousands of British Columbians, we have clearly shown that this project is not worth its risks and does not have the permission of the communities it inevitably impacts and is a clear violation of Indigenous rights and title, Indigenous and international law.
In September 2017, with federal government approval, while nations and environmental groups are in court, Kinder Morgan started construction in the Burrard inlet anyway. They think all we’ll do is rally and petition. They’re wrong.
Already, construction of the Westridge tanker terminal is being disrupted regularly by local citizens expressing their resolve to prevent this project from going through as people step up in greater numbers to exercise their civic duty to prevent further harm to the delicate life-sustainaing balances of our planet in these times of grave climate and ecological crisis.
This action is being organized on the unsurrendered territories of the Lekwungen & WSANEC Peoples, and will take place on the unsurrendered territories of the osəli wəta (Tsleil-Waututh), Swú7mesh (Squamish), and xməθk ə əm (Musqueam) Peoples.
