Sea Wolves information sessions to launch new water-based activities in opposition to Kinder Morgan

Dear friends and allies,

With Kinder Morgan preparing for construction on their Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion, the Sea Wolves are preparing to launch new water-based activities in opposition to the project.

The Sea Wolves are a local, grassroots kayaktivist collective dedicated to water-based non-violent direct action. We use creative strategies to oppose Kinder Morgan’s pipeline project from the seat of a kayak, canoe, or other watercraft. We are ready to prowl and protect the Salish Sea in solidarity with Indigenous Nations who have voiced opposition to the project. Our collective is committed to decolonization, and acknowledges that our actions take place on the occupied, unceded lands and waters of the səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nations.

Sea Wolves members have been building their resources and skillsets since forming in 2016 at Break Free, a global week of action against the fossil fuel industry. After recently participating in the Oil Free Salish Sea action camp, we are excited to pass on these skills to the rest of the community. (Temporary website: https://www.facebook.com/bcseawolves/ .)

We are hosting two informational sessions in the coming weeks. We are inviting you and any member of your group or community to attend.

  • Session 1: 7:00pm - 8:30pm on Thursday, September 14.

  • Session 2: 4:00pm - 5:30pm on Saturday, September 23.

Please note that these events are not open to the media. Please send any media requests to bcseawolves@gmail.com.

Both sessions take place at the Greenpeace Vancouver office at 1745 Commercial Drive. The room is on the 2nd floor, with approximately 12 single steps, single door entry and hallway. There is no elevator on premises. Please let us know of any accessibility and mobility-related questions. Parking (paid and free) is available nearby and there are close bus stops.

These sessions will take place on the occupied, unceded territories of səlil̓wətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nations.

We are excited to prepare together to strengthen our communities’ opposition to Kinder Morgan’s pipeline project.

Yours in solidarity,

The Sea Wolves
