Support for Communities and Coal at the Federal Court of Appeal (701 West Georgia Street, 6th floor)

This is the latest in the fight against U.S. thermal coal exports. In 2014, communities fighting a coal project on the Fraser River brought a case against Fraser Surrey Docks and the Port of Vancouver to federal court. They argued the decision to approve the project was biased and made prior to meaningful consultation with local communities.

The initial court decision favoured Fraser Surrey Docks and the Port, but our friends did not back down. Communities and Coal, led by Paula and Christine, and supported by the lawyers at Ecojustice, sought an appeal of the court’s decision to uphold the port permit for Fraser Surrey Docks’ coal proposal. So, we’ll be seeing the Port and Fraser Surrey Docks in court again. Will you join us?

The brave folks at Communities and Coal will be making their case at the Federal Court of Appeal (701 West Georgia Street, 6th floor) on Thursday, November 8, starting at 9:30 a.m sharp.

Will you join me to support them as they continue to defend our communities from risky coal export projects? Respond to this email and let me know if I’ll see you there!

With gratitude,

Arie for Dogwood
