On April 30, U.S. puppet and “self-declared” interim President Juan Guaidó made another attempt at a coup against the democratically elected President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro. In the few hours after it began, it was clear that the U.S.-backed attempted coup was a complete failure and had been defeated. People in Venezuela mobilized in the streets of Caracas in defense of President Maduro and the Bolivarian revolutionary process, and continued their massive rallies into the next day, on May 1 International Workers’ Day.

In the days following the defeated coup, U.S. government officials continued to threaten Venezuela with military intervention, with Secretary of State Pompeo stating on Fox news that U.S. President Trump "has been crystal clear and incredibly consistent: Military action is possible." These threats come in addition to the criminal blockade that the U.S., Canada and European Union have imposed on Venezuela. These illegal sanctions have taken the lives of 40,000 people according to a recent study by the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).

Venezuelans are in constant mobilization in defense of President Maduro and against U.S. imperialist intervention. Now more than ever, we must stand with them in defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty and self-determination! - from Vancouver, Canada to those bravely defending the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, DC, and around the world!
