Trudeau will go against everything he has campaigned on if he refuses to stand up to Trump. Tell him to reject Trump’s climate denial by condemning the approval of Keystone XL.

Today, Donald Trump pushed forward executive orders that would resurrect the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines. This is part of a series of unjust decisions that Trump has made since his inauguration.

As we saw this Saturday when hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets for the Women’s Marches, people in Canada reject Trump’s xenophobia, racism, misogyny and climate denial. Tell Prime Minister Trudeau to stand with us.

Trudeau won the last election by condemning Harper’s inaction on climate change, broken regulatory review processes, and close ties to the dirty energy industry. Now, his government is celebrating the Keystone XL pipeline approval as an opportunity to work closely with a President who has pledged to do everything Harper did and more. This is unacceptable.

In addition to advancing the Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipelines with a compromised regulatory review process, Trump has made it clear he doesn’t care about the climate by pledging to tear apart the Paris Agreement, erase years of progress in climate legislation, and appointing infamous climate change deniers to his cabinet.

Trudeau will go against everything he has campaigned on if he refuses to stand up to Trump. Tell him to reject Trump’s climate denial by condemning the approval of Keystone XL.

Moral leadership matters during times like this. We expect Trudeau to stand on the right side.

Onwards,

Atiya
