Dear Supporter,

Last night, our upstanding Whatcom County Council extended the moratorium barring new unrefined fossil fuel export project permits at Cherry Point for the next six months.

This moratorium blocks new projects for propane, liquefied natural gas, and crude oil export from existing piers or pipelines, until long-term Comprehensive Plan policies and development regulations for Cherry Point can be finalized.

The council chambers were packed and the vote came after nearly four hours of impassioned testimony from citizens like you. Thank you for supporting our community's best interest. Your voice showed the council that Whatcom County citizens value public health and safety, and protecting our environment and our communities.

RE Sources is honored to continue engaging citizens like you in influencing important decisions like this one. If you like the work we do and want to support our continued successes, please click here to donate today.

Thank you,
