Burnaby Residents Opposing Kinder Morgan Expansion
BROKE is participating in the "People's Intervention Pledge of Action" campaign for January that we hope can help push our Prime Minister to keep his campaign promise to send the current heavily biased National Energy Board (NEB) Kinder Morgan assessment process back to the drawing board.
By allowing the Kinder Morgan NEB Hearings to proceed as scheduled, the government is on track to break their big promise on pipelines. They had pledged to reform the NEB and introduce a new process to include climate impacts and listen to community voices, especially First Nations.
The "People's Injunction" is an online pledge to take creative action early in 2016 if the government does not honour its word and suspend or cancel the Energy East and Kinder Morgan reviews by January 15th (the next round of Kinder Morgan hearings begin on Jan. 19th in Burnaby)
STAYED TUNED FOR UPDATES RE. ACTIONS PLANNED FOR JANUARY!!!
BROKE is BROKE!!
National Energy Board (NEB) UPDATE
AND FUNDRAISING APPEAL
BROKE has intervenor status in the upcoming NEB hearings. As stated above, we are opposed to the hearings continuing as scheduled, but plan to proceed with our intervention because we are committed to using all means available to us to stop the Kinder Morgan Expansion Project.
BROKE has spent the past two years preparing to represent the concerns of Burnaby residents in this assessment process. Along with our lawyer and expert witnesses, we have invested considerable resources in preparing reports on the adverse health impacts and seismic risks associated with the proposed Kinder Morgan pipeline.
Unfortunately, we are BROKE, and need to
raise $10,000 to complete this final stage of the process.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT ! ! We will be launching several fundraisers in the New year - Please help us raise the funds we need to represent the concerns of Burnaby residents before the National Energy Board. Details coming soon!!
The hearings will take place from January 19-29 at the Burnaby Delta Hotel, 4331 Dominion St., Burnaby (near Willingdon Ave. & Hwy.1) BROKE's final oral arguments are scheduled for Thursday January 28. While the general public is excluded from attending these hearings, it will be possible to view them online. We will send details closer to the date about how you can do this.
THANK YOU!! Best wishes to you
and your loved ones for a
very happy and healthy New Year!!
