Dear friends,
We need YOUR help with direct support of the treesits that are blocking TMX. Non-Arrestable OR Arrestable - you decide. Both are crucial.
Protect the Planet Stop TMX (PPST) has been very busy in the effort to stop the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion (TMX) in the Brunette River corridor in so-called Burnaby, BC. As of Thursday, September 16th, we remain in a standoff with TMX. This drone view from Wed. Sept. 8 illustrates the effect of our treesit community in holding off the chainsaws. For a contextual video of the site and the stakes to our stronghold (Hummingbird tree sit), see here: https://fb.watch/7-ksy9i_8V/
We are on the frontlines of the climate emergency, and we need more support. If we lose our stronghold, we have lost this battle.
Can you support our treesit? Whether through non-violent direct action or any other volunteer role, any and all contributions are crucial and invaluable. Here are two ways you can help:
We will follow up with you with next steps on how you can participate. Thank you!
WHY: We’ve stopped Trans Mountain for more than a year, but now they are pushing back hard. We are at a tipping point and it’s time to build our base of support.
WHAT: Join us for a quick overview of the last two weeks in the treesits. Then we’ll put our assembled minds together to welcome Arrestable and non-Arrestable support to Stop TMX. A Tour to the treesits is an option.
WHO: All hands on deck. No experience necessary. We need you now to help us plan.
DETAILS: at Lower Hume Park, 660 E Columbia St, New Westminster. (MAP) Please plan to arrive at or close to 10:30am. This is an outside event, so dress for the weather (welcome rain). Masks and distancing will be practiced.
By transit > Lougheed Skytrain Station, walk south on North Rd. to Lower Hume Park.
By Car > Free parking available at Lower Hume Park
Help us support the (up to 7) amazing tree-sitters as they risk life and liberty to prevent Trans Mountain from proceeding with pipeline construction in this area.
