A protest that aims to “surround” the Trans Mountain terminal in Burnaby with drummers is set to go this holiday Monday, Aug. 5.

Drums Not Drills: No TMX Expansion is being promoted by the group Burnaby Residents Opposing Kinder Morgan Expansion. According to BROKE’s posting, the event will run from 2-5 p.m. at the Westridge Marine Terminal, 7065 Bayview Dr.

“We aim to surround the terminal with a drum circle and welcome Indigenous drummers and drummers from all four directions of the Earth to join us in this effort,” says the posting.

The event is also a potluck and people are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks.

The posting says there is “imminent drilling” coming to Burnaby Mountain in the form of a boring machine to make way for the pipeline.
