A judge is asking B.C.’s Attorney-General Ministry to take over the case of Kinder Morgan protesters who have been arrested for allegedly violating a court injunction.

Last month, B.C. Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Affleck issued the injunction restricting protests at Kinder Morgan’s controversial Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project in Burnaby. Since then nearly 150 people have been arrested.

The images are alarming.  In photo #1 — a wetland with abundant green grasses, broad leaf plants and young trees, an ideal habitat for insects, amphibians, birds, and mammals.  In photo #2 — the same wetland gripped by a grey death after being sprayed from helicopters with the herbicide glyphosate.  Most of the vegetation (except for a few coniferous trees) is now dead and the insects and other animals gone.

Two dozen protesters waved signs emblazoned with Rich Uncle Pennybags and chanted anti-Kinder Morgan slogans outside TD Bank in Sechelt as part of a weekend bank protest blitz involving nine TD Banks in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

“We are regular people who want a green environment for our children, our grandchildren,” said Bozena Whibbs, who co-organized the Sechelt event with her husband, Fred Whibbs.
