Rowan Williams backs call for mass civil disobedience ‘to bypass the government’s inaction and defend life itself’

A new group of “concerned citizens” is planning a campaign of mass civil disobedience starting next month and promises it has hundreds of people – from teenagers to pensioners – ready to get arrested in an effort to draw attention to the unfolding climate emergency.

Major disasters and challenging long-term weather conditions are weakening local governments, increasing racial and class inequality, and reducing trust in government.

Editor: This article shows the need for a change in the way people survive and find satisfaction in their lives.  At the very least governments should be encouraging jobs in producing alternative/sustainable energy.  The article shows a misunderstanding of the effects of fracked gas which is a greenhouse gas contributing to global climate change. The damaging effects of fracking, pipeline building and ultimate burning of the gas on the environment and climate are overlooked.)

If he so desired, President Trump could go down in history as the man who transcended ego and ignorance by acting  to limit greenhouse gas emissions. Fat chance.
