Last month, one of Canada’s largest and most influential pension fund managers, the $205-billion Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), joined a growing number of financial institutions in announcing a commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

On January 4th, workers at Google and other Alphabet companies announced the creation of the Alphabet Workers Union with support from the Communications Workers of America (CWA) – the first of its kind in the company’s history. It will be the first union open to all employees and contractors at any Alphabet company, with dues-paying members, an elected board of directors, and paid organizing staff.

C-suite payrolls are so massive they account for at least 40% of some companies’ losses

 OTTAWA — Canada’s 100 highest paid CEOs made 227 times more than the average worker made in 2018, surpassing all previous records, according to a new report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA). That’s up from 197 times average worker pay in 2017.
