KAMLOOPS, B.C. — An order stopping tree cutting and grass mowing across the entire Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project was issued Thursday by the Canada Energy Regulator, the agency that enforces safety and environmental guidelines for pipeline projects across Canada.
A statement released by the CER said it issued the order to immediately stop all clearing activity "to prevent harm to nesting birds in the pipeline project’s right of way and to ensure Trans Mountain is correcting any issues it has in relation to contractor oversight and management."

Thanks to everyone who came out to support. We arrived at 6:15am to find no workers or security around, and were able to easily access the site. Some security and/or workers were spotted throughout the day, but it was fairly uneventful until 4pm when 7 RCMP cruisers pulled up. We were read the injunction, and chose to leave and not be arrested.

Also, during this past year I’ve heard from people who may have potentially exposed themselves to COVID-19 because they could not bring themselves to make a scene in a restaurant and grocery store. We’ve been deeply socialized not to meddle in other people’s business, particularly strangers.
