We are living in a climate emergency. Canada's government admits that. But as Seth Klein has brilliantly shown in A Good War, provincial and federal policies fall far short of the scale of the challenge. One reason for Canada's laggardly climate policies is the economic, cultural and political power of the fossil fuel industries.

TMX says it will last 200 days

A project that will dig and complete a 2.6-kilometre tunnel connecting Burnaby Terminal to Westridge Marine Terminal is “quickly approaching,” according to a new post by Trans Mountain put up on Earth Day.

“We're quickly approaching a significant Expansion Project milestone – the start of tunnel boring for the Burnaby Mountain Tunnel,” reads the post that includes a video (posted below) demonstrating how the project will take place.

With all eyes on President Biden’s Earth Day climate summit Thursday, it’s important to understand how his $2-trillion infrastructure plan proposes an unprecedented shift in federal spending away from highway expansion and toward public transit.
