So, even the "planning" process is fundamentally distorted by the desire to make climate "solutions" seem within reach, when no realistic, mathematically rigorous research has been done on the feasibility of these much-celebrated "mitigation pathways." Once again, the capitalist system's primary objective is shown to be protecting the capitalist system of consumption, growth, and profits. Capitalism or the future: WE CAN'T HAVE BOTH!!

Massive food producers hold too much power – and the regulators scarcely understand what is happening. Sound familiar?

For the past few years, scientists have been frantically sounding an alarm that governments refuse to hear: the global food system is beginning to look like the global financial system in the run-up to 2008.

Unfortunately, this article doesn't make reference to right-wing "anti-vaxxer" and related protests, comparing them to, and distinguishing them from, the progressive protests covered here. But there is a lot of good info, and the last sentence of the article poses the key strategic task for all of us.

Revealed: the ‘carbon bombs’ set to trigger climate breakdown

"The Middle East and Russia often attract the most attention in relation to future oil and gas production but the US, Canada and Australia are among the countries with the biggest expansion plans and the highest number of carbon bombs. The US, Canada and Australia also give some of the world’s biggest subsidies for fossil fuels per capita."

It took me a while but I finally digested the 107 pages of Chapter 5: Demand, services and social aspects of mitigation in the last IPCC report on Mitigation of climate change. This chapter is worth the read if only because it’s the first one fully dedicated to demand-side strategies.

"When over 80% of people in low-income countries still haven't received a single jab and deaths are still mounting, this is unconscionable: Pfizer has blood on its hands."

As major pharmaceutical executives and investors convened virtually on Thursday for their annual shareholder meetings, campaigners took to the streets in the U.S., the U.K., India, South Africa, and elsewhere to condemn major drug companies for hoarding technology and prioritizing profits over equitable distribution of coronavirus vaccines.

The investment tax credit unveiled by the federal government earlier this month isn't enough to convince Canada's major oilsands producers to begin construction on a proposed massive carbon capture and storage transportation line, the chief executive of Cenovus Energy Inc. said Wednesday.
