Global developments suggest a Canadian migration to a green economy is critical to competitiveness. However, if one tries to find Canadian clean tech manufacturing/innovation companies listed on a stock market, one will likely come up with nearly zero, while the number of Canadian-based oil and gas firms offering stocks is seemingly infinite.

 

Canada has got its priorities wrong.

Canada ratified the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination more than 50 years ago on October 14, 1970.

The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) is the body of independent experts that monitors implementation of the Convention.

In December 2019, the Committee called on Canada to “immediately cease construction of the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion project … until free, prior and informed consent is obtained from all the Secwepemc people.”

Natural Resources Minister Seamus O'Regan says Canada will look “very closely” at whether to tighten rules around a potent form of carbon pollution if “future data and modelling” convinces him it’s warranted.

Reflections from my first day living in the tree tops above Holmes Creek. The aim of this occupation is to protect and defend the trees, land and waters from needless destruction, to preserve the salmon run of the Brunette, and thus the ecosystem function of the region. The Trans Mountain Expansion has lost its relevance, its costs have ballooned, its markets are drying up, and now even its insurers are dropping it.
