For Gordon Murray, the loss of his home during this summer’s wildfire in Lytton shows the British Columbia government isn’t doing enough to curb the climate crisis.

“I still taste smoke from the firestorm that erased our house and 90 per cent of Lytton as we fled that unexpected and unstoppable manifestation of the human-caused climate emergency,” said Murray.

"Heartbreaking but we're not done yet"

RCMP officers moved in today (Seot. 28) to remove the last of the platforms and other items where protesters have been tree sitting to protest the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion project for months.

Videos on social media show RCMP tactical teams preparing and then going in to remove tree houses.

At least 227 land and environment defenders were killed in 2020, making it the deadliest year on record — and that’s just the tip of the iceberg, according to a report released by international NGO Global Witness this week.
